The first week of ministry in Costa Rica we worked at a school and painted it. Some of the artistic people of our group painted flowers, birds, bugs and Bible verses in Spanish all over the school. It looks beautiful.
The next week of ministry in Costa Rica we were doing painting and a lot of gardening at a different campus. At this location they have a very large pavilion. They told us that seven small churches meet together there to pray. They also said that they are hoping that part of that land be used for drug addicts and alcoholics to come to get help and recover from addiction. In addition, they pray that these individuals will come to know the Lord. The gardening that we did was clearing around trees and putting rocks around them. We also made a stone pathway/road.
The morning of our third week in Costa Rica we moved to a new location. It was not very far, just around 45 minutes away from where we were staying. We are now staying at a church, sleeping in a building next to the church. We have been working at the church and painting the church all week.
This week, on Monday, we scrubbed and painted the fence around the church. The rest of the week we will be working in the center of town at a soccer field. We have been scrubbing the concrete benches that are around the field. We will be painting them and then hopefully finishing painting the church.
Right now the majority of our ministry is manual labor. The people here are very grateful and it is wonderful to get to do devotionals with them after dinner and to talk to the Christians and church members here in Costa Rica. We have done some evangelism around the town after we get done working. We have prayed for people, which has been very cool. I also got to share what God has been teaching me with my team and our host family. Then one of the ladies from the church we are serving came up and said that God was speaking to her through what I spoke about. That was really amazing to see how God used what he was teaching me to speak to someone else. Our group has also been a part of their Wednesday and Saturday services. We’ve been sharing testimonies and doing teachings. Our hosts have been sharing their testimonies and teaching with us which has been a very cool experience. It is mind blowing to see people from a whole different country and to hear their story of how God has been with them every step of the way and how he has saved them and walked with them through hard things. It blows my mind how he is with us all day every day and that he doesn’t have to leave one person to go be with another; he’s with each of us all the time.
Your continued prayers are much appreciated and very much needed. There are hard moments and hard days but God is good. And he has given me a lot of joy in doing the work that we are doing. I am very thankful for the community that we have around us. Also where we are living is very beautiful and it is wonderful to get to look up at the mountains every day in awe of God‘s glorious creation. Thank you for your prayers and for reading the blog.

Thank you for sharing what your days are like and the ministry you are doing there. It is exciting to hear. I agree with you that it is so exciting to see in action what we already know–that God is the same in every culture. The same lessons, the same faithfulness, the same joy and the unity of believers that spans the culture gap.
Thank you so much Audrey for sharing your amazing experience and ministry.
